Vicki Forman answers the question: What's the most unusual experience you've ever had at a reading?
I was in Squaw Valley, reading from a short selection of my memoir. In the selection, I'd been describing my family's efforts to find a suitable grave site for our daughter, who had been born very prematurely, and who died when we removed her from life support. Our daughter's ashes still remained in our bedroom, on a radiator. After the reading, a woman came up to me and said, "My daughter is in our closet. It's been three years and I still don't know what to do with her." Of course, I started to cry, and I hugged the woman and said, "It's okay."
Come see Vicki read at The Mountain Bar in L.A.'s Chinatown on Sunday, January 10 at 8pm.
