Sunday June 17 is Father's Day, but for author Pia Ehrhardt it's the West Coast release of Famous Fathers, Pia's spiffy new collection of scandalous short stories of sex, lies and crawfish in New Orleans. Vermin faithful know that book release is code for free cake, so come hungry (and thirsty).
Also appearing in the House of Blood Room at the Mountain Bar is Michele Matheson, who will be reading from her ethereally beautiful novel about an L.A. junkie Saving Angelfish from Tin House Books. Michele is also an actress and was recently profiled by Tom Christie in the L.A. Weekly.
Rounding out this trio of emerging voices is Myriam Gurba, whose new book Dahlia Season contains one novella, several short stories, and a whole bunch of trannies.
Adulterers, junkies and transexuals. That's how we celebrate Father's Day at Vermin on the Mount. See you at 8pm and be sure to stick around for the free cake!
